DESCRIPTION
After Rubber Lizard Productions’ short fan film Red Rising met with success on the convention and independent movie circuit, they managed to secure funding and the go-ahead to produce a feature length film. Approached by the production company’s founders, I was tasked to create creative collateral in support of their props department. Specifically, they required dust jackets to be designed that adorn the covers of the various bits of in-universe lore. This required the creation of original artwork, some incorporating model photography and royalty-free/copyright-free assets and others created whole cloth with vector and raster illustration. And aside from populating some of the content areas with filler text, there were some fun opportunities to insert Easter eggs in the covers’ various blurbs.
Photo manipulation/optimization, artwork and layout done using both Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer.
