DESCRIPTION
Independent role-playing game content creator/designer Andrew Shields sought to create a gamemaster resource for the generation of objectives (namely, heists in the campaign setting of Duskwall) on the fly in support of John Harper’s roguish tabletop RPG, Blades In The Dark.
This supplement primarily took on the form of a deck of 90 glossy, full-bleed, 2-sided US poker card sized cards featuring unique content and branded to match the look and feel of the parent game. And this was all done with game creator John Harper’s blessing, complete with his permission to use official branded elements in the product we designed.
The gamemaster’s use of this product was simple: when needed, a handful of these cards would be dealt out and reviewed. Their combined content would dynamically generate a game session’s mission objectives as well as introduce story complications through the inclusion of events and named characters.
In response to the community of players interested in such a product, a Print-and-Play PDF version was also created, providing this same audience a low-cost, desktop publishing alternative that contained a trimmed-down portion of the full content.
In support of this entire effort, branding was further extended to adorn the look/feel of the product’s online store page as well as related product ad units.
