DESCRIPTION
The Hub Crawl was an urban photo scavenger hunt event hosted in Boston where teams of four were challenged with not only performing photo-captures from a list of items but also solving puzzles in order to locate and photograph “tokens” hidden throughout certain neighborhoods in the city. When taken together, these tokens would spell out a final photo-capture that teams would then need to obtain or perform, netting them a huge point bonus.
As this was a personal side venture, all work (puzzle/game design, event coordination, staff supervision and promotion) were done after work and, with the exception of a few items (e.g., the silkscreened t-shirts, first place prizes, etc.), all materials (event and game resources, flyers, etc.) were produced via desktop publishing and low-cost printing services. Advertising was done largely through word of mouth and social media. In its third and final run, the Hub Crawl picked up sponsors such as OoO Ties, Shawnimals, StickyGram and Photojojo to help provide giveaways and prizes for event participants.
This was no small feat.
