MENTAL HEALTH PORTRAITS

DESCRIPTION
I was never one for self portraiture but, I suppose, these are indeed unprecedented times and unprecedented things will continue to occur. Much like most of the world, 2020 was a hard year for me. But it was especially hard for me even before the pandemic took hold thanks to deaths in my personal life and other such family matters. When COVID-19 put the whole world into lockdown, it was just the cherry on top of a very…uh, un-good sundae. Because of the personal challenges I was facing, it was suggested that I turn to my art to visualize and then examine the feelings I was experiencing in regard to anxiety, malaise and avoidance behavior.

It helped.

Pencils and inks, with digital cleanup and coloring via Photoshop.
