PERS[O]NAE SYSTEM

DESCRIPTION
PERS[O]NAE was a RPG system designed specifically for play-by-post forum role play. In particular, it was made for a collaborative written fictive work where writer-contributor players take on the role of characters in an ongoing narrative and setting facilitated by another writer-contributor who acts as the Storyteller and arbiter of events and outcomes. In an otherwise freeform storytelling environment where players would often step on each other’s toes in regard to respecting personal boundaries, unchecked privilege and marginalized agency, PERS[O]NAE provided a framework to allow for fair, rules-governed, and structured group storytelling with a reward system in place to allow for the breaking of these rules in the interest of narrative dynamism and drama.

This system was playtested by members of the Godville app game community (specifically, by the Nautilus guild) and, to encourage engagement and inventive roleplay, microrewards (in the form of achievement and recognition merit badges a la the Boy Scouts of America) were designed and awarded to various participants.
